Smashing Tuna Salad
Kia Ora Team
I just want to share 1 celebration and 1 awakening moment that I had today.
Celebration Moment: Today I did not feel any cravings for carbs and sweet treats like I have over the past 2 weeks which i find refreshing. I think because my meals and snacks are prepped - my go to is the hummus and carrot, or home made Chicken Salad Sandwhich rather than buying a shop bought pork roll and tempted by the other delectable treats on display. The difference for me now is that if I take that time to organise my meals the night before (and before the household shop) I like and look forward to what I am going to eat and actually like the taste while Im eating it.
Awakening Moment: I made the mistake of taking a work call whilst just about to sit down for lunch today and because I had a 20 min window before my next work appointment I thought I could multitask. By the end of the phonecall - I looked at my Tuna Salad and thought what a let down it was. I felt robbed because it did not meet my expectations. Whilst in the process of telling my workmate how sad my salad was, I noticed the can of tuna still sitting in my lunchbox waiting to be added to my lunch LOL. After reading the tip of the day it reinforced the whakaaro about how important it is to make the time count - be present and appreciate the experience of eating good kai. The fantastic invention of voicemail was the difference between me having a limp lunch or a smashing salad.
Have a fab rest of the week whanau:)

Kia ora Trace! Good question - yes, tuna in springwater is the better option.

Great hearing about how it's going for you. Yes spring water is better, but it depends - would the salad become boring and a disappointment leaving you at risk of feeling ripped off and reaching for a treat to make you feel better. It's your lunch - sometimes a little bit of flavoured oil might make all the difference. As you're learning it's important to enjoy your food and feel satisfied - a teaspoon of oil to enhance and ensure that is fine to have with such a healthy meal. Alternative healthier sources of satisfying fat: avocado or desiccated coconut.

Kia Ora Dr Marewa and team. I looked at my tin of smoked tuna and it was in soya and smoked oil. Is the better option tuna in spring water rather then oil?
